Environmental Product Declaration

Life cycle assessment information can also be used in the development of product specific environmental score cards often known as Environment Product Declaration (EPD).

These reports summarise the environmental impacts associated with a product over the entire life cycle.

EPD data is increasingly requested by many customers particularly in Europe, as part of their purchasing decision making, and also as required by the more stringent ISO type 3 Ecolabels (ISO14025).

In Europe trade associations such as PU Europe are using EPD format to communicate the average regional environmental impact of specific materials. For an example of region material EPD see PU (Polyurethate) Europe.
