February Update from David Thomas
Tuesday, 28 February 2023
Kia ora koutou
For many of us, particularly those impacted by the recent weather events, 2023 has not started out the way we had hoped. I would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge all those who are working through the devastating impacts of flooding and cyclone Gabrielle – individuals, families, communities, and organisations.
We know that with widespread flooding there will be many premises that need correct assessment of water damaged board, as well as guidance on how to remediate that damage. We have some useful resources here that help both those aspects and I encourage you to take a look or reach out to our team of Technical Advisors on 0800 100 442 if you need more information.
I’m pleased to share that we have reached a point where we are now shifting away from plasterboard allocation, with plasterboard demand and supply now largely rebalanced across New Zealand. GIB Weatherline® and GIB Barrierline® products are no longer on allocation, and we have plans underway to transition all plasterboards out of allocation over the coming months.
Our new Tauriko facility continues to make great progress, and we are on track to begin the ‘Wet Commissioning’ process in April. We will keep you updated on progress.
Nga mihi nui
