March Update from David Thomas
Thursday, 23 March 2023
Kia ora tatou,
Earlier this month we announced that our GIB® plasterboard will move away from the supply allocation model that has been in place since last year, with this coming into effect from 3 April. I am sure you’ll agree, that it is great to have supply back to a balanced state and to have good stock levels re-established. I would like to thank you all, our customers, as well as the wider New Zealand building industry, for your patience and understanding over these challenging times.
It has been an extremely difficult few weeks for many of our merchants and dispatchers across the country, with many facing huge disruptions following Cyclone Gabrielle and the Auckland Anniversary weekend floods. We are hugely appreciative of the efforts put in to ensure much-needed products are available, ahead of what is likely to be a significant rebuild for many parts of New Zealand over the coming months.
For those now undertaking repair and replacement work for water-damaged plasterboard, please feel free to get in touch with us via the GIB® Helpline if you need support. We have developed resources that can assist, including some answers to frequently asked questions that the GIB® Helpline team is seeing come through.
Our new Tauriko manufacturing and distribution centre is now entering its final stages of construction. The plasterboard plant dry commissioning is going well and wet commissioning is scheduled to commence in early May.
Nga mihi nui
